On September 11th, 2001 the world stood still as we watched an horrific terrorist attack on the United States of America. The Pentagon and The World Trade Centre were attacked. Over 90,000 firefighters, police officers and volunteers rushed to help those people who were trapped in the World Trade Centre in New York. The ripple of this attack was felt around the world...it was an attack on every country who stands for freedom. The 10th Anniversary events on September 11, 2011 is a major current event.
I believe that this event is an opportunity for remembrance and reflection. I was seven years old when this happened and it is hard for me to remember that day. I do know how powerful and sad this event was. We must remember the event and the lives that were lost but we must also remember why we fought back. Our freedom is worth fighting for and as we move forward we must learn from our past and work to find peace in a world where we all may live without fear.

I agree with you Katie. September 11th, is a day we should all remember the people lost in the towers. These people deserve the memorial they get at ground zero, and much more then that. Especially the respect of the lucky people who got to live and did not have family affected in the attack. This day will always be sad, no matter how many years go by.
ReplyDeleteThe September 11th attack on the United States, however horrible, really illustrated how a nation can band together in times of need. I find it incredible that 90 000 people fought to help those trapped in the destroyed buildings. It is so important to remember those lost in this tragic occurence and to hope for the continued healing of those affected by the destruction of the towers. I hope that sometime soon, third world catastrophes will be just as publicized as this event.
